Recent News:The state of Hawaii plans to clear the streets from homeless

Craig T. kojima / ckojima@staradvertiser.com Gov. Neil Abercrombie and Marc Alexander, right, the state's coordinator on homelessness, announced a plan yesterday to deal with homeless people. The Governor of Hawaii gave him self 90 days to make a decrease of numbers of homeless people in the streets,  beaches and parks in Honolulu. Governor Abercrombie said: "We intend to see to it that public space stays public. Public space is not there for private use". It's estimated that about 6,000 people need shelter every night. Volunteers are planning to serve about 2,000 meals a month to specific places, and people with mental problems will be supported with health treatment. I think that this is a good start for helping homeless. Also is a good start to clear the streets and public spaces.

  2. this is a good idea, but this is sort of strange to treat homeless people like trash and just get them off the streets and dump them somewhere else. There will be a homeless people apocalypse if we continue like this

  4. I think it is great to help poor people to get a home but I think 90 days is a bit too short.
